Former Congressman Jim Saxton (R-3rd Congressional District)
Named as Honoree at Deborah Hospital Foundation’s
4th Annual Red Tie Gala

Long-time 3rd Congressional District Representative Jim Saxton has been named as Honoree at Deborah Hospital Foundation's 4th Annual Red Tie Gala, to be held at The Hyatt Regency Philadelphia, at Penn's Landing on November 7, 2009.  The event is in support of Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

Former Rep. Saxton has been a tremendous supporter of Deborah, working tirelessly during his congressional tenure to sponsor legislation to help Deborah in its unique mission of providing outstanding treatment and exceptional care for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

It is a great honor to have Jim Saxton join us at our Gala in November," said John R. Ernst, Deborah President and CEO.  "He has been a long-time champion of our cause, and was instrumental during his time in Congress in helping not only Deborah continue its important work, but also to help strengthen New Jersey's hospital network and charity care system in general."

Gala Chairperson Carol Himmelstein agreed.  "I am thrilled to have former Congressman Saxton join us at our Gala.  We are honored to be able to recognize his work on our behalf."

Former Congressman Saxton served in the third Congressional district continuously from 1984, having been elected in a special election.  Prior to his election to Congress, he served in the NJ State Assembly and in the State Senate.  Before moving into public service, he was an educator and a small business owner.

During Rep. Saxton's 24-year tenure in Congress he tirelessly worked for the 650,000 residents of Burlington, Camden, and Ocean Counties.  He served on several influential committees including the Armed Services Committee, the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities, the House Banking Committee, the Joint Economic Committee, and the Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee.  During his term he played an influential role in the establishment of the country's first Mega-Base, realigning McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix, and Navy Lakehurst into one facility.

South Palm Beach Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation Has Anniversary Celebration

SOUTH PALM BEACH – The South Palm Beach Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation recently had a double celebration. The Chapter marked its 20th Anniversary of providing philanthropic fundraising support for Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey – a specialty heart, lung, and vascular hospital which in nearly 90 years has never billed a patient for services. As well the Chapter celebrated the 92nd birthday of Rose Petros, the Chapter’s founder. She is shown here being pinned with the Deborah Founder’s pin, by Chapter President and Board Member Bobbi Sroka.
